These are some of the keywords for 2009, which can equally be applicable to relationships. Parties will be unwilling to rock the boat, upset the apple cart as it were.

Relationships that need to move to the next level will not, and those that need to end, will likely endure a procrastinating and slow nudging towards the inevitable. Relationships that commence in the Rat year, which is a Peach Blossom year, will after a speedy courtship, settle into an odd state of being neither here, neither there, and take a lot of effort before it can progress to any level of stability.

But this is not Peach Blossom infidelity - rather, it is infidelity prompted by a sense that the relationship is beyond redemption, or the relationship is unlikely to change, or simply a deep-seated need to find love somewhere else.
